Industry (2020)
Trader's Film Library #55 · Drama series. The most realistic series about a modern trading floor.

Original title: Industry · Type: series · Created by: Mickey Down, Konrad Kay · Usefulness for traders: ★★★★☆
What it's about
A group of graduates starts work at the London investment bank Pierpoint & Co. They fight for a permanent job in a world where results, relationships and resilience under pressure are what count. The creators themselves used to work in banking.
What it has to do with markets
One of the most realistic series about a modern trading floor: the jargon, the pressure for results, client relationships, abuses and the mental cost. It shows well how young people learn about risk and how easy it is to cross the line.
Lessons for traders
- pressure for results affects health and decisions (Trader fitness: burnout)
- company culture shapes behaviour (the fundamental attribution error, Atlas of biases #62)
- in finance, relationships and reputation count as much as results
What to watch out for
Lots of personal-life and graphic scenes. Not for everyone.
