How much the data moves the market – numbers from real trades
| Release | Releases | Average 15-min range | First-minute direction held |
|---|---|---|---|
| CPI (inflation) | 8 | 253 pts | 4 of 8 |
| NFP (jobs report) | 8 | 210 pts | 5 of 8 |
Dow Jones futures (MYM, CME), March–October 2026, Sierra Chart. The average range of a whole day is about 600 points – one important release can do a third of a typical day in fifteen minutes. More: economic calendar, US CPI, FOMC meeting dates.
How to read the calendar
What matters is the gap between the actual reading and the forecast, not the number itself. Data marked high impact (CPI, NFP, the Fed) regularly moves the market hundreds of points in minutes; medium data (PMI, jobless claims, consumer sentiment) moves it mainly when it differs sharply from expectations. Times are shown for New York and Warsaw.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the calendar data come from?
Dates, forecasts and previous readings come from a public US economic calendar (ForexFactory). The theme descriptions and the Dow Jones reaction statistics are ours – calculated from real trades on the CME.
How often is the page updated?
Every 5 minutes. The time of the last update is shown at the top.
Why are there no live quotes here?
CME exchange data is licensed and may not be published on a website. I show live Dow Jones quotes with commentary on the free stream from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM New York time (3:00–10:00 PM Warsaw).
