POC migration

Definition. The movement of the developing POC during the session. It shows which way the value accepted by the market is shifting.

How it works

During the session the POC is calculated in real time. As successive periods add volume higher or lower, the POC “migrates”. A stable POC means balance; a moving one means value is being built in a new place.

Example

In the morning the POC sits near the open; in the afternoon it moves several dozen points higher. The market has accepted higher prices.

What to watch out for

Early in the session the POC changes quickly, because the profile is still short.
