Definition. An area in the time profile (TPO) where only one letter appears at successive price levels, meaning price passed through it quickly, in a single period.
How it works
Single prints form during fast moves. They mark an area where the market didn't trade in balance and one side clearly dominated.
Example
After a data release, price moves several dozen points within one 30-minute period. A band of single letters remains in the profile.
What to watch out for
A single-print area is sometimes tested later, but it doesn't have to be. It's information about the character of the move, not a signal.
